“Fresh Up N' Out” chronicles my journey back into community spaces and art connections following a life-changing event. Armed with my trusty Pentax 35mm film camera and Ilford film, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and experimented with portraiture. While some shots didn't come out ideally, the experience was nerve-wracking and rewarding. I believe you do capture a part of the spirit when someone’s essence is saved through light contact with the film.

The photos featured in this series were taken during various cultural events throughout the Bay Area, including First Friday at the San José Museum of Art (SJMA), Martha Street Art Night & SJ Makers Community Kickback at Empire 7 Studios, Whew Events Sonic Sunrise During Black To The Future Fest, Sadie Barnette Opening at SJMA, The Good Cult Meet-Up in Japan Town, THe Lunar New Year Closing Show at Current Tattoo featuring KEYWAXX + 1 Culture’s Bay Area Graffiti Legends Show Closing.

Also included is an obligatory sky portrait because every moment spent gazing at the sky is unique and special.
